United is a design-led studio working on a wide range of projects in diverse environments. We define architecture as a significant social and cultural intermediary of life in the metropolis. Through our work, we aim to improve the quality of people’s lives. This leads to a new representation of form and space.

Jens Brinkmann founded the company in 2004. He previously worked in Brazil, Chile, France and the USA. He leads an international team of experienced professionals. Brinkmann is a board member of the Association of German Architects BDA in Berlin. In 2019, he received a doctorate in cultural studies from the Humboldt University in Berlin with a topic on architecture in Brazil. Brinkmann has taught architecture in Germany and lectured at various international universities, e.g. at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, the Universidade de São Paulo, the ENS d’Architecture de Paris La Villette and ESAP in Porto.

The studio approaches each project with a commitment to design excellence. We work at all stages of project development. United enjoys responding to a range of briefs: Commercial projects for offices and workplaces, complex public works within the urban realm or wider landscape, private residences and interior environments. Our clients include individuals, families, private and public organizations, municipalities, and developers. Our work has been the subject of publications and awards.
